The Premier XR Lab in the Midwest

The lab brings excitement to business and education through immersive technology. Our lab technicians teach businesses and students how to be leaders in the AV/VR field. We demonstrate how 3D technology can be simple to use and easy to integrate.
ARS runs the state of the art XR lab, featuring the latest in AR/VR equipment and 3D solutions. We develop innovative, impactful applications in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR). The XR lab features and demonstrates these applications for education and business applications.
T-Rex is the leading tech incubator in downtown St. Louis, MO and partnered with ARS to build the state of the art XR and simulation lab. It was founded for equipment and geospatial research, advancements in tech, and STEM education. ARS hosts XR events and tours for businesses from around the world, along with local high schools and colleges.
State of the Art XR Equipment
We research the latest in XR equipment and establish strategic partnerships and collaborations with industry partners, companies, and educators. The partnership with T-Rex began with a $500,000 federal grant won by Executive Director, Patricia Hagan. This allows us to purchase the latest in XR equipment for testing and development.
The highlight of the lab is the INFINADECK omni-directional treadmill. If you’ve seen the movie Ready Player One, you know how this equipment works! This is the world’s first practical omni-directional treadmill. The device allows a user to walk completely naturally in any direction.

AR/VR and 3D Lab Tours
VR in architecture immerses you in the beauty of design. From form, space and aesthetics, you can engage clients with tools to measure space, view sight lines, change options, plus much more. Explore the relationship between spaces and the impact of light on a room at different times of the day or year. Feedback is instantaneous and architecture visualizations allow people to walk through realistic business or residential environments, offering a perspective that photos cannot accomplish.
Connecting Students with XR STEM
The XR Lab has established a strong presence with schools throughout the St. Louis region. ARS and T-Rex partners together to build new connections from classrooms to careers. Our focus is to open exciting new opportunities for talented kids in the 3D development industry.
From Universities to High School students, we are educating area youth on the power of XR technology. ARS hosts focus groups and game jams for kids of all ages and runs internship programs for teens and college students.
Our Role in the Innovation Ecosystem
The XR Lab was founded on the understanding that ai and immersive environments will be the next technological advancement for communications, entertainment, and business. Current hardware will progressively be replaced by non-intrusive technology that seamlessly blends into our lives. 3D virtual, augmented reality, and mixed reality will have a huge impact on society, and will disrupt the status quo in industry and education.
The XR lab is currently active in the fields of architecture and urban planning, geospatial, sustainability and community training, NERF research, human-computer interfaces, UI/UX, new media and narrative/storytelling research.
T-REX provides a community and network of support to assist tech-focused startups; programming and resources to support advanced technology business development; and incubator, co-working, meeting and event space to innovators, entrepreneurs, and community-focused organizations.
